Australia’s Premier High School Esports League

Where Esports Begins!

Welcome to the 2023 High School League season for Rocket League. Be part of the premier competition for competitive Australian high school esports providing the best platform for your school to succeed and be recognised on a national scale.

2 Registrations Per School. This registration should be completed by your School Teacher’s only.

To confirm your school’s team’s spot for Season 2 2023, you will need to place & complete an order to secure your School a team spot or two! Team spots fill up fast for HSL Rocket League so don’t miss out!

This registration is to be only purchased or ordered by Schools. Not for the direct public.

Schools can either pay with a Debit or Credit Card straight away or request an invoice in the checkout for payments to be made during the season. Please ensure you enter your school’s information in the billing page at the checkout. This information will automatically be used to generate an invoice for your school & sent to you after post-order by the HSL administration team.

Registration

The Registration Fee covers the overall HSL program, giving your Schools access to: 

  • FEE: $200 Per Team Per Season
    • This covers the core 3x players of the team.
    • Plus additionally any substitutes you wish to include in the team we allow for up to 2x subs by default unless you have/need more.
    • We don’t like teams bringing on completely new players through the season unless it’s required to keep playing and will be up to our admin team’s discretion to ensure no unfair advantage is gained from the new players.
  • SIGN UPS CLOSE: 24th April
    • This could possibly extend depending on registered teams

NATIONAL LEAGUE

  • Up to 24 teams maximum
  • Schools will be divided into conferences of up to 6-8 teams per conference based on team ranks
  • Conferences are made up by the most common ranks across a team and matching them to other similar ranked teams
  • Open to all skill levels, Our Conference.C or D has typically been our lower skilled group of teams
  • Groups will compete in a double round robin format for up to 7 weeks, they will verse each other twice
  • Between the top 2-4 schools from each conference group will secure themselves a spot into the season finals
  • Matches are every Monday afternoons, starting from 4:20PM AEST
  • Each school will play up to 2 matches in a best of 5 format, each week. Unless your team’s group has a Bye each Round

2023 SEASON STRUCTURE 

CONFERENCE GROUP STAGE

  • Up to 4x Conference Groups in total – pending on total team signups
  • Conference Matches start from 4:20PM AEST each week
  • Conferences have a maximum of 6-8 teams
  • The top 2-4 teams from each conference group will proceed to the Finals

NATIONAL FINALS

  • Single Elimination Knockout Bracket – Quarter Finals, Semi-Finals, Grand Final
  • Selected final’s matches will be streamed on www.twitch.tv/xpesportstv

HSL23 ON YOUTUBE  & TWITCH

  • For Season 2, we’ll only be delivering a special broadcast for the Finals including live commentary. There will be no streams during the Group Stage.
  • We host all match lobbys and record these for your enjoyment to wathc back on our YouTube Channel, we make these live two days after the Match Day.

 SPECIFICS

  • Each team will either play from their school or from a remote location and join up online
  • Each team must have a teacher
  • Each team may have a coach (can also be the teacher)
  • Teams will play 2 matches in a best of 5 format. Each game is 5 minutes plus overtime in some instances until 1 team scores in Overtime
  • Players can play from PC, Xbox Live, PlayStation Negtwork or Nintendo Switch
  • Each player will need to use seperate game accounts. They will be required to use the same game account through the whole season
  • Rocket League is F2P – free-to-play via Epic Games

SEASON 2 2023 DATES

  1. Registration Period: Now – 24th April
    • All teams must be finalised & submit their JotForm’s by Monday 24th April (5PM).
  2. Pre-Season Period: 24th – 28th April
    • All registered schools & players need to submit their JotForms by April 28th 5PM.
    • All players and teachers must submit a role-ticket in our official HSL Discord Server by
    • This is to ensure all players are ready to go on the 1st Monday afternoon at 4:20PM 1st April.
    • We aim to create the season schedule during this period so rely on all JotForms being submitted on time.
  3. Round 1: Monday, 8th May
    • 4:20PM – 6:00PM AEST
    • Best of 5 Games Format
  4. Round 2: Monday, 15th May
    • 4:20PM – 6:00PM AEST
    • Best of 5 Games Format
  5. Round 3: Monday, 22nd May
    • 4:20PM – 6:00PM AEST
    • Best of 5 Games Format
  6. Round 4: Monday, 29th May
    • 4:20PM – 6:00PM AEST
    • Best of 5 Games Format
  7. Round 5: Monday, 5th June
    • 4:20PM – 6:00PM AEST
    • Best of 5 Games Format
  8. Round 6: Monday, 12th June
    • 4:20PM – 6:20PM AEST
    • Best of 5 Games Format
  9. Finals: Monday, 19th June
    • 4:20PM – 7:20PM AEST
    • Best of 7 Games Format
    • Single Elimination Bracket
    • Top Teams from the Conference Groups battle it out for the Season Champion & Runner-Up title + prizes.

PRIZING

Prizing is for the top 2 teams for the whole season overall determined from the National Finals.

NATIONAL CHAMPIONS:

  • Trophies for your core 3x players
  • Technology Equipment Prizing provided by Computer Alliance (TBC)

NATIONAL RUNNERS UP:

  • Trophies for your core 3x players
  • Technology Equipment Prizing provided by Computer Alliance (TBC)

CONFERENCE GROUP WINNERS:

  • For each Conference, the top single teams out of the Group Stage will receive Medallions for your core 3x players
  • These will be mailed to your school

COMMUNICATION

Discord will be used as the main point of contact for each team where they can talk to the XP Esports team, other schools, access codes, post highlights and organise scrims. Teachers are required to create a Discord account so they can be added to the XP HSL Server.
